On a warm Saturday evening, in the middle of the U Village, next to a gentle waterfall; the sun shone on a vibrant circle of 10 yogis. Shoes off, chairs close, laughing, sharing, and quietly OMM-ing. Ahh - my kind of summer yoga bliss!

Our 2nd
Teacher party on July 12th was a hit! Here's what teacher
Suzanne Stephens had to say about it,
"It really was great meeting everyone. I love teaching - I hate networking. I was relieved to find a supportive environment of yoga professionals warmly offering support for all types of yoga. A very unifying experience."
Who was our surprise guest? Bettelinn Krizek Brown, one of Seattle's original 4 yoga teachers from the 1960s!
Bettelinn's presence is filled with grace, charm, openness, humor, and ease. She gifted us stories about the "Who's-Who" of the early yoga in so rich a style, it is no wonder that Seattle yoga is firmly planted in our lives today. Thank you!
Wisdom from Bettelinn on the perfect class...
When asked how she would create her "perfect" class today, her reply (excuse my paraphrase), would be to include ALL the different paths. From Bakti, to Raja, to Asana, to whatever - there isn't just ONE way. We must honor each path.
And more on professional courtesy...
She went on to remind us how RICH we are in having access to so many paths and recommended that teachers continually try classes from all the different paths.
She
strongly suggests that if a teacher shows up at your class, then professional courtesy dictates that they be invited in free of charge.
Read more in this month's Bizz Tip: "Free Yoga" (below). And finally Bettelinn read to us a special "
Message to Yoga Teachers" written by Rama Jyoti Vernon in1983. "
There are no teachers . . . . . we are all students . . . . bound together in infinite expansion of growth and exploration. We are not teachers . . . and yet . . . . we SHALL teach . . ."
Read the entire letter...
Until we meet again... may you teach well.
